The Management of Middlebult Colliery wishes to express their appreciation and thanks for the way in which Phase II of the Northern Primary Satellite shaft system was handled and completed.

Specific issues we would like to mention, were the high standard of house-keeping, good safety awareness and the completion of the project four weeks ahead of schedule.

Yours faithfully

TELEX FROM GENCOR

RE : REFERENCE MARIO PIETORMARTIRE
----------------------------------

AS OPERATIONS MANAGER OF GENCOR IN SOUTH AFRICA I CONTRACTED BOMAR CIVIL CONSTRUCTION (PTY) LIMITED TO SINK AND EQUIP AN INCLINE SHAFT OF SOME 800 METRES.

MARIO PIETROMARTIRE AS M D OF BOMAR PROVED NOT ONLY EFFICIENT IN COMPLETING THE CONTRACT WITHIN TIME AND PRICE CONSTRAINTS BUT WAS VERY HELPFUL IN DESIGN OF SHAFT AND STATION LAYOUTS.

I RECOMMEND HIM STRONGLY FOR ANY SUCH CIVIL CONSTRUCTION AND HE WILL HAVE A PERMANENT INVITATION TO TENDER ON ANY SUCH WORK IN MY CHARGE.

REGARDS
HANS SMITH

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

“I wish to confirm that the Johannesburg City Council had an electric cable tunnel built by Bomar Civil Engineering (Pty) Ltd., between March 1977 and July 1978.

Mr M Pietromartire was director of this company and he controlled the whole operation.

The work was carried out efficiently and the tunnel was completed ahead of schedule. It was well built and entirely to my satisfaction.”

Yours faithfully

This letter serves to introduce Bomar Projects (Pty) Ltd whom I have had the pleasure of
knowing and being associated with for the last twenty years.  Bomar has carried out two
major contracts for me.  I would like to mention that in both instances Bomar carried out
and accomplished the work well within the budget time and economic constraints. Their
safety record at work is excellent.

I therefore have no hesitation to recommend them for any future mining work.

               With gratitude

 MEMORANDUM

To:                 The Project Manager                         Date:                      28 November 2011
From:            Rock Engineering                              Ref. No.                 ERE 8/6/2011

The large excavations where Bomar installed support on 17 level were visited regularly by a member of the Rock Engineering department to do quality checks during the installation process. Support in the BAC and Rhino cubby is complete and of good quality.

Special attention was given to the quality of support in the BAC due to its size.
·        The Shepherds crooks are properly grouted and the pattern followed.
·        Long anchors are grouted and tensioned in the pattern recommended.
·        The lacing installed is close to the rock and tensioned.
·        The shotcrete applied is neat and all support steel is covered.

Shotcrete in the fan chamber was stopped by the mine to complete the fan installation first. Approximately 50m2 of shotcrete must still be done to complete support in the fan chamber.

Conclusion:
The support installed by Bomar contractors in the BAC and Rhino cubby is of good quality and effective.

MEMORANDUM

To:                 The Project Manager                                           Date:                      2 February 2012
From:            Rock Engineering                                                Ref. No.                 ERE 8/08/2012

Routine visit to the shaft orepass between 13 and 14 levels where rehabilitation work to the orepass are in progress.

The above orepass was visited to comment on the stability of the sidewalls and support installed. Broken ore in the orepass is drained at a controlled rate to allow equipping from the top down. Work done currently is equipping of the orepas with a travelling way, pipes, support in some areas and platforms.

Observations:
1.     The sidewalls of the orepass are barred solid.
2.     Rock stud support is installed in areas where joints and bedding places are prominent.
3.     The quality of the rock stud installations is good.

Conclusion:
The section of the orepass inspected is approximately 25m and the stability of the rock is good.
